Ann Stockdale is a painter, born in Miami, who started her career as an actress after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. After a stint on Broadway and a few film appearances, Ann became interested in developing her creative ideas in a way that expressed her own world vision.
“Myself Inclined” is Ann’s art and music memoir, which reviews some of her many adventures with music icons in London in the musically fertile 60’s, such as Jimi Hendrix, Steve Winwood and Dr John and is filled with many of her colorful paintings
Always in the background of her young life was her passion for rhythm and color which culminated in her growing desire to express herself visually. She dedicated her creative life to painting in 1989 and has shown her work in many Galleries. Her work has been sold on Cruise Lines and she has been honored with a solo show at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. Her work has also been seen at the Tacoma Art Museum and at the Cocoran Art Museum.
ANN’S PROCESS
Music is a big part of my life in art. The music I listen to while painting, attracts certain spirit energy my way. I began knowing these wonderful invisible entities when I was about three years old…and would climb a big Banyan tree to spend time with them.
Around six, my invisible friends’ voices receded as I became more attuned to the tangle of thoughts and meanings of everyday life. Years later, in the ‘60s, It was my good fortune to realized invisible spirits are a reality and forming a conscious connection to them is very favorable. That is when my creativity began to flower. I am actually co-creating with my invisible friends as I trust their input and they make it fun. It is lively to be infused with frequencies according to the music I am listening to
